As the core polyester new materials subsidiary of Zhink, Wankai New Materials is aligning closely with the Group’s strategy of openness and cooperation. On August 22, Wankai joined the Zhink delegation on a visit to the BASF Innovation Campus in Pudong, Shanghai, marking the company’s first in-depth exchange with BASF. This milestone dialogue injects a global perspective into Wankai’s journey of technological innovation and sustainable growth.
Led personally by Mr. Shen Zhigang, Chairman of Zhink Group, the discussions brought together Wankai’s core technical and business teams with BASF experts for a high-level exchange. The meeting was not only a strategic dialogue between Zhink Group and a global industry leader, but also a valuable opportunity for Wankai to connect with cutting-edge international technologies and broaden avenues for cooperation. The dialogue provided a strong platform for potential breakthroughs in areas such as PET bottle-grade resin upgrading and green material development.
During the session, the Wankai team engaged in in-depth discussions with BASF on innovation-driven R&D, bio-based and recycled technologies, and C1 chemistry. These conversations laid a solid foundation for future collaboration. Importantly, Wankai did not position itself solely as a “learner” but also shared its own achievements in green development and industrial collaboration, earning recognition as a meaningful partner for BASF and demonstrating the potential for mutual value creation.
The exchange highlighted Wankai's role as a bridge linking international frontier technologies and as a starting point for Chinese new material enterprises to work alongside global chemical leaders in driving the green transition of the industry.
Looking ahead, Wankai New Materials will continue to build on technology as its foundation and cooperation as its wings, deepening dialogue with BASF, clarifying collaborative directions and implementation paths, and jointly charting a roadmap for the sustainable development of the global new materials industry.
