In the face of escalating global climate change and environmental concerns, Wankai has steadfastly pursued a path of sustainable development. With a clear target to reduce carbon emissions, conserve energy, and decrease waste, the company has become a proactive advocate for green and low-carbon development.


The Haining factory, an essential production base for Wankai is at the forefront of this green initiative. By optimizing its energy structure and implementing resource recycling, the factory has made significant strides in contributing to the company's sustainable development goals.


One of the key projects in achieving this vision is the photovoltaic power generation system. Since 2014, the Haining factory has been installing distributed solar photovoltaic systems on its factory roofs to increase the proportion of clean energy. The project has been implemented in three phases, with installed capacities of 5,800KW, 2,500KW, and 6,000KW, respectively, totaling 14,300KW. Additionally, a 2,000KW project is currently in the pipeline, with an anticipated annual generating capacity of 1.946 million kilowatt-hours.


In terms of economic benefits, although the output has slightly decreased due to equipment aging, the first and second phases of the photovoltaic project have collectively saved over CNY 9.8 million since their inception, with an average annual saving of CNY 1.36 million. The third phase, which commenced operation in May 2022, has realized economic benefits of CNY 3.2364 million up to the end of 2023.


Most importantly, the environmental benefits of the photovoltaic project far outweigh its economic returns. In 2023, the Wankai photovoltaic power generation project generated approximately 13 million kilowatt-hours of electricity. This translates to a saving of approximately 39,130 tons of standard coal, a reduction of 10,713 tons of carbon dioxide emissions, and a decrease in sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxides, and particulate matter emissions by 1.08 tons, 1.73 tons, and 0.22 tons, respectively.

 

Notably, during the process of photovoltaic power generation, there is no discharge of waste water, waste gas, or solid waste, nor any noise pollution. It is truly a green and environmentally friendly new energy source. Therefore, despite the impact of equipment aging and maintenance costs on economic returns, the project's role in environmental protection is immeasurable with purely economic metrics.
